1920s Black Mesh Draped Flapper Dropwaist Party Dress with Rhinestone Buckle size S

This STUNNING vintage dress is like no other I have found during my travels. The photos can’t do it justice, it looks absolutely amazing when worn in person.

The dress was made during the 1920s. It is constructed from sheer mesh fabric that has been beautifully draped on the bias to flatter the female form. There is no size indicated, but it would best fit modern women’s US sizes 2-4. Please see measurements below to guarantee fit.

Everywhere you look on this garment, it has beautifully designed details. The bust area is exceptionally decorated with layers of fabric that drape over the shoulder and wrap across the bust. Darts at the back neck are visible and add to the visual interest of the garment. The dropwaist is accentuated with an attached fabric belt that has a lovely little art deco bow-shaped buckle. The black portion of the buckle is made from either celluloid or lucite, and is decorated with tiny sparkling rhinestones set into silver-tone metal.

The bell-shaped sleeves have beautiful scalloping at the edges that add a bit of dramatic flare. The skirt has multiple layers of fabric that start at the hip and end in an asymmetrical handkerchief style hem. The dress has a series of metal snaps at the side waist so you can slip the dress over your head.

This dress would be perfect for a formal event, Old Hollywood themed party, or really any occasion that involves cocktails!

Please note that this dress is almost 100 years old so there are a couple signs of age, however none of them are that noticeable and the dress could definitely be worn as-is. The most noticeable condition issue is in the front bust area where the pieces of fabric meet in the center. There are 2 holes that look like a figure 8 right in the center where a necklace would fall, or where a brooch may have been pinned to the dress. Luckily this spot is easy to camouflage with jewelry, and because of it’s placement it almost looks intentional, and could be stitched back together with some TLC.
The other area that shows signs of wear is the right half of the belt buckle where 2 rhinestones are missing. The shiny metal disguises this so it is not very noticeable either, and the rhinestones could easily be replaced for a quick DIY repair project.

Over all, this intricate dress is in very good vintage condition and has a lot of life left to it. There are no stains, and it was stored in a smoke-free environment.
