This unique mid-century dress would make an amazing costume piece!
This dress was made by hand during the 1950s. It is constructed from a non-stretch cotton/rayon blend fabric with pearly lucite buttons. There is no size indicated, but it would best fit modern women’s US sizes 6-8. Please see measurements below to guarantee fit.
The construction details on this garment are so cool! The bias draped design creates a very flattering silhouette that shows off movement really nicely, and true to the construction of the times, there are no armhole seams. The dress is fitted through the bodice, flares out at the hip, and the hem lands below the knee.
The dress closes up the front bodice with 6 large pearly lucite buttons. There are 2 buttons on each sleeve for decoration, as well as a tie at the front neck. The dress has belt loops at the natural waist, so you can pair with a belt of your choice, or they could easily be removed.
Please note that this dress does show its age a bit. There are some areas of color fading along the shoulders and on the tie at the neck. There is also a tiny hole at the collar (please see close-up photos). This dress would be perfect for theater or film, or even a grey scale costume for Halloween! Other than the issues mentioned above, this garment is in good, wearable condition, and it was stored in a smoke-free environment.
