Add a touch of vintage charm to your next look with this fantastic box purse!
This box purse was made in Hong Kong during the late 1950s by Ernest Handbag, Inc. It is constructed primarily from woven reeds and bamboo, and is large enough to hold all of the daily essentials!
This basket purse has a wicker exterior with bamboo trim around the edges. The handle is also made of bamboo, and there are little brass feet on the bottom so it stands up nicely on its own. The lid opens up clamshell-style and secures with a brass turnkey clasp. The inside lining is made of cream-colored vinyl and can easily be wiped down. There is even an interior zip pocket!
The body of the purse measures 8.25 inches wide, by 6 inches tall. It is 4 inches deep and the handle hangs 4.5 inches long.
Please note that a small piece of hardware on the left base of the handle is missing, and there is a piece of wire holding it in place. The wire does the trick so the purse is wearable as-is, it is hardly noticeable in person unless you really look closely.
The lining also has a few spots that show its age. These issues are clearly shown in the photos and have been considered when factoring price.
Over all this item is in good vintage condition, it was stored in a smoke-free environment, and it has a lot of life left in it!
