G. Howard Hodge was a highly esteemed milliner of the 20th century, some of his designs are even featured in the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
This black satin and felt velvet turban-style cloche is estimated to have been made during the 1940s. The label reads “design by G. Howard Hodge original model, New York. Fantes body made in Italy”
This hat has stunning bias woven details and a beautiful felt velvet and sparkling rhinestone bow off to the front right side.
The circumference of the inner band measures 21 inches around, and the rise is approximately 6 inches tall.
This gorgeous hat is in excellent vintage condition and comes with the box shown in the photos. It is not the original box that came with the hat, and the box does show its age a bit, but it fits inside nicely and is perfect for storing/protecting the hat. Both the hat and box were stored in a smoke-free environment.
