Channel the fabulous Moira Rose in this stunning black and white silk dress!
This dress was made during the 1980s by Oleg Cassini. It is beautifully constructed from 100% silk with a rayon lining and a beaded fringe applique at the left front hip. The tag is marked as a vintage size 14, but it would best fit modern women’s sizes 8-12. Please see measurements below to guarantee fit.
The contrasting prints on this dress are simply stunning in person. There is a more dominant chain link print that you notice first, and then an underlying swirly zebra-like striped sheen print in the background. The pleated waist yoke has a striped print all of its own!
The dress is fitted throughout the waist and hips with a more flowy fit and shoulder pads on the top. The pencil-style tulip skirt acts as a faux wrap, and there is a slit in the back for easier movement. The dress closes up the back skirt waist with a 12 inch zipper, and button closures at the front and back keyhole necklines. The slit in the back bodice shows off just the right amount of skin for some sophisticated sex appeal!
Please note that there is a small stain on one of the cuffs of the tapered sleeves. The other wrist is also missing a button, but this could easily be fixed with a quick DIY button replacement.
This dress would make an excellent Katherine O’Hara costume from Schitt’s Creek or Beetlejuice! Overall, it is in good vintage condition and has a lot of life left in it! There are no rips or missing beads, and it was stored in a smoke-free environment.
