1940s Hand Painted Wood Box Purse/ Stationary Box with Letter Opener

Combine style and function with this adorable vintage box purse/ stationary box!
This hand-painted box purse was made during the 1940s. It is constructed primarily from wood and measures 8.5” x 4.5” x 3.5”.

This box features some really lovely hand-painted gold and yellow flowers and butterflies on all sides that pop nicely against the forest green background color. There is a top handle made of black lucite with brass hardware. The brass ball clasp opens up to reveal a cream colored velvet lining. The lining is in very good shape for its age! This piece formally belonged to a woman named Doris M. Smith, her name is painted in red on the bottom of the box. This box purse comes with the vintage letter opener shown in the photos (I bought them together and together they shall stay.)

Please note that there are some minor signs of wear such as some scuffed paint in a few areas and some small spots in the lining. Overall, it is in very good, usable, vintage condition and has a lot of life left in it. It would make a wonderful gift, a nice accessory for your vintage outfit, or great storage option!
