This beautiful vintage cocktail dress is absolutely stunning in person!
The dress was made by Saks Fifth Avenue during the 1950s. There is no size indicated, but it would best fit a modern US women's size 6. Please see measurements below to guarantee fit.
This garment is primarily made of non-stretch silk with an all-over print. The print consists of tiny pink, magenta, and orange flowers against a black background. The black velvet collar adds a nice contrast against the print, and draws attention up toward the face.
True to the apparel construction of time period, there are no armhole seams on this dress. The bodice and sleeves are made up of the front and back bodice pieces sewn together. The dress closes up the front with three fabric covered buttons and a hidden snap closure at the front waist. Darts accentuate the smallest part of the natural waist for a flattering fit, while pleating at the skirt waist adds volume to the skirt, creating that timeless hourglass silhouette. (The skirt is shown in the photos without a petticoat underneath. A petticoat could be added for extra volume if desired.)
This garment is in immaculate vintage condition! There are no holes, stains, or piling, and it was stored in a smoke-free environment. It would look fashionable worn for every day life, or could be a great costume piece for a 1950s film!
