Don’t let this one flutter by! Decorate your home or office with this beautiful vintage wall hanging!
This piece was made in Brazil during the 1970s and boasts a color palette that was totally on trend in the 70s, and has come back around today! Gorgeous sienna browns, creams, golden yellow, and rusty orange.
The metal frame measures 14.25 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide. Four species of Brazilian butterflies/moths are mounted in order from smallest to largest wingspan, with the largest at the bottom. The specimens are perfectly preserved behind raised bowed glass.
The butterflies are unlabeled, but I was able to identify three of the four species. The top butterfly is called Heliconius Erato. The yellow butterfly is the Phoebis Cipris. The third one remains unidentified, and the final species is named Eurytides Protesilaus.
The frame has a hook at the top so it is ready to be hung with ease. Please note that the frame has a bit of patina that shows it’s age and adds character. Aside from this small sign of aging, this unique piece of art is in great vintage condition! It was stored in a smoke-free environment and would make a wonderful housewarming gift.
