1960s Woven Rectangular Basket Purse with Turnkey Clasp and Braided Handle

This lovely vintage basket purse will pair beautifully with any warm weather outfit!

The handbag was made in Hong Kong during the early 1960s. It is constructed from woven wooden reeds, brass hardware, faux leather, and genuine leather.

The shape and style of this purse is totally timeless!
The body of the bag measures 6 inches tall, by 9.5 inches wide, and 3.25 inches deep. The handle has a fun braided detail and hangs approximately 5 inches long. It stands up on its own with the help of small studded feet made of leather and brass. The purse is large enough to hold all of the daily essentials, and is fairly lightweight.

The woven wooden reeds have a sort of laminated finish to them that protects the bag from the elements. The purse opens up clamshell style with a gold-tone brass turnkey clasp. The basket opens to reveal a tan faux leather lining. There is a zip pocket in the lining that is perfect for holding loose change or credit cards. The lining is in very good condition and can easily be cleaned should something spill.

This piece would look amazing with dresses, skirts, linen suits, vacation attire, and pin-up styles!

Please note that there is some slight scuffing on the hardware that shows its age, but it is not noticeable unless you look up close. Over all this piece is in excellent vintage condition. It was stored in a smoke-free home and has a lot of life left in it!
