1940s Black Velvet Straw Fascinator Hat with Fabric Rose and Rhinestone

This lovely hair accessory was made during the late 1940s. It is constructed primarily from straw and velvet, and will fit any size.

The construction quality of this piece is wonderful, but the star of this piece is the fabric rose that sits on the back of the hat. The rose has a quarter inch sparkling rhinestone resting on it, while lying next to two bendable fabric leaves, giving an elegant touch to this classic style hair accessory.

The base of hat is made from a shiny black straw material and trimmed with wide black velvet piping. There is a very organic shape to this piece that fits nicely around the crown of the head. The rim has wire inside so it is somewhat flexible and can easily be pinned into your hair. This fascinator measures approximately 11 inches by 9 inches across the top.

Please note that there is a little wear on the leaves (see close-up photos), but it is not that noticeable. Over all this item is in good vintage condition. It was stored in a smoke-free environment would be perfect for an evening look or any dressy occasion, or could even be used as a costume for theater or film!
