1950s Dark Brown Basket Purse with Turnkey Clasp and Leather Accents

This lovely vintage basket purse is the perfect piece to complete your pinup look!

The purse was made in British Hong Kong during the late 1950s, and designed by Lady Ellen. It is made primarily of woven basket reeds, brass, and genuine leather.

The body of the purse measure 11 inches wide, by 8 inches tall, and 3 inches deep (when closed). It is large enough to hold all of the everyday purse essentials, but not so bulky that it will weigh you down when you are on the go.

The rich brown woven exterior has a slight reddish hue, and would look amazing paired with any Summer or Fall outfit!
The purse opens up with a brass turnkey clasp about 5 inches to reveal an immaculate lining! The lining is made of natural woven fabric that has a stunning mid century print! There is also a small pocket on the inside of the lining to hold smaller items.

Brown genuine leather accents on the front of the bag, the feet, and the clasp complete the design of this great accessory. The leather handle straps hang approximately 6 inches long. Gold-tone brass studs and hardware contrast nicely against the deep brown, and little brass feet on the bottom make the purse able to stand up nicely on it’s own.

Please note that there is some slight scuffing on the leather patch that decorates the front of the basket (see close up photos). The purse could totally be worn as-is, or could even serve as a fun DIY project if you want to cover the scuffs with some type of embellishment to make it your own. Over all this bag is in good vintage condition. There are no holes or stains, and it was stored in a smoke-free environment.
